Healthy Eating Habits to Try This Holiday Season

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, we’ve been reflecting on our eating habits and exploring ways to feel better, both physically and mentally, during the holiday season. With so many delicious food options coming our way, we thought we’d share some of the healthy habits we’re embracing to stay balanced. 🍽️

Why Healthy Eating Matters for Us

As a practice with neurodivergent practitioners, eating well is a game-changer. What we eat directly affects our energy levels and mood. We’ve noticed that fresh fruits, veggies, and lots of water make us feel energized and grounded. On the flip side, too much sugar or soda tends to leave us feeling sluggish and overwhelmed.

Since our busy schedules sometimes mean forgetting meals (until those loud grumbles remind us!), we’ve been working on building intentional routines to make eating healthy easier and more enjoyable.

What We’re Currently Exploring

Lately, we’ve been dipping our toes into Mediterranean-style eating—focusing on whole foods, healthy fats, and flavorful spices. Here are a few of our favorite things:

🌿 Healthy Fats

We’re all in on extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), peanut butter, nuts, fish, eggs, and beans. Honestly, it’s a game-changer! Chef’s kiss.

🥖 Whole Grains FTW

We finally made the switch from white bread to whole grain! 🎉 And let us tell you—it was way easier than we thought. Breakfast these days? Whole grain toast with peanut butter and egg whites, served with fruit. Look. At. Us. Winning at breakfast.

🍎 Fresh Snacks on Hand

To stay fueled throughout the day, we keep fresh fruits, veggies, and nuts within reach. Think carrots, cucumbers, and celery with ranch dip or fruit bowls in the morning. With our tendency to skip meals, snack bags and pre-portioned containers are our best friends right now.

🛑 Mindful Snacking

The struggle is real—especially when those holiday chocolate kisses hit the shelves. (Let’s just say, they know us too well.) We’re working on reducing mindless snacking by staying intentional with our food choices. But don’t worry, we still leave room for joy—it’s all about balance!

💧 Hydration = Happiness

Our golden rule: Drink water and mind your business. Staying hydrated helps us stay clear-headed and calm, and we’re loving some cozy tea this season too!

Join Us on This Journey

We wanted to share these habits with you because y’all are community, and we’re all about supporting each other’s wellness. This is just what’s been working for us, but we hope it inspires you to explore what makes you feel good.

So here’s to No Stress November and nourishing ourselves with food that feels right. Let’s enjoy the holidays without the stress—and maybe with a little more water and peanut butter toast along the way. 😉
